No2Chem has now released an experimental utility so people can try it out on their own smartphone.
He notes however:
(1) MSM72xx devices do not overclock well. Usual behaviour is auto-restart, or lockup. (2) Overclock seems to be stable on AC, but not stable on battery. Seems to be PMIC related, so I’ll have to work on a way to get that working.
(3) Might be possible to pull one of the backup PLLs down a bit, so I’ll have to look into that
(4) This is nowhere near a final version, expect more configuration options etc.
Results from the comments have been mixed, with some achieving fast and stable results and others having spontaneous restarts. The usual caveats therefore apply – backup before trying this utility, and use it at your own risk.
nueOverClockTest is donationware, so please consider donating – No2Chem could do with a HTC Touch Pro 2, and I am sure we would not mind him having one either.
